This book is a beautiful and vulnerable tribute not only to Audrey’s mother but to those who care for loved ones with Huntington’s disease (HD) or any other chronic disorder or disease. The author tells her family’s story with love and honesty, sharing the pain and joy that come with being part of a family. This book would make anyone in the HD community feel less alone, but it is also relevant for anyone who has suffered trauma, lost a loved one, or simply wants to read a story of love, loss, hope, and eventual peace.
Audrey has written something courageous, tender, and unforgettable. It’s a book that made me cry, but also one that left me proud! I am so proud of my cousin for putting these words into the world, and proud of the women in our family whose strength runs deeper than disease.

I didn’t anticipate this book to impact my heart in the way that it did. Audrey tells the story of her mother’s battle with Huntington’s illness with honesty, grace, and great affection. It can be sad at times, but it can also be uplifting to see how ingenuity, faith, and strength can help a family get through things that seem impossible. A strong memoir that sticks with you long after you’ve read it. I would love to be able to read this book for the first time again.
